Step by step
- Open the Mindi chat for your workspace. Choose the appropriate mode and select the language you will speak.
- Open the voice control to choose an available voice for that language. Choose Start live conversation and allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Wait for Listening, then speak naturally. Mindi processes your message, speaks its reply and starts listening again.
- To speak before a reply finishes, choose Interrupt and speak. If the conversation pauses, read the message and choose Resume when ready.
- Choose End and view transcript to return to the text chat. Signed-in users should check Saved to conversation history; use Retry saving if a save fails.
Things to check
- Auto-speak reads chat replies aloud; Press to speak records one input. Use Start live conversation for ongoing back-and-forth speech.
- Check browser microphone permission, the selected input device, speaker volume and the selected language if speech fails.
- Keep the chat tab visible. Changing language or hiding/leaving the tab ends the live session; start again when ready.
- Guests need to sign in to save conversation history. A saved transcript does not mean the raw audio recording is retained.
- Teacher chat: remove attachments before starting live speech. Account allowances still apply.
